As I was sitting in church this past weekend, one of the topics was living your life without regret. I was listening to the sermon and I found so many similarities in what we do as business owners and it made me take a step back. These principles we talked about in church really apply to our lives, especially with the concept of being present and not having regret and living our lives to the fullest.

A little background on me: I am a recovering workaholic. I love to work and I love my job. I love helping people reach their fullest potential and I am always thinking about the next step and creative new ideas to put myself out there. I really lean in to every trend on social media and I embrace it, learn it, and implement it.

The problem is that when you’re a workaholic, and you TRULY enjoy working, you find that other areas of your life don’t get as much of your time. I struggle with maintaining this balance on a daily basis!! I am constantly making sure that I am respecting the boundaries and sometimes I nail it while other times I totally blow it. But it’s okay to admit that you don’t perfectly bucket out your time! Reality is not perfection. We are all imperfect and flawed and that’s what makes us amazing individuals!

So as I was thinking about this topic of living a life without regret, I was thinking of all the things I personally don’t want to miss out on. But it’s important to note that for me, living a life without regret might mean something totally different than it does for you. For example, I don’t have a hard time working. What I do have a hard time with is shutting it off and making sure I am creating the memories and the moments that I want to be able to look back and say I created.

The first thing I want to ask you is this: are you aware of how you’re positioning yourself? If you have these hopes and dreams, are you positioning yourself in a way for opportunities to arise? Or are you sitting back and waiting for things to happen to you? As a business owner, you need to show up and position yourself where you are ready to accept the challenge in front of you. But a lot of people are just waiting to hit it big. It’s the small, insignificant tasks in the trenches that add up. Combined with an open heart, you will be blessed with opportunity!!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to just SHOW UP! You might have an opportunity waiting but you’re not there for it, so you miss out. Are you doing your vitals? Are you paying attention to where you are succeeding and where you are failing? Are you calling yourself out on your own BS?

My next point is also super important. You cannot wait for a guarantee of success before you take a leap of faith. Did you attend my Vision Board Party or my Goal Setting Course? I bet you got super excited about your goals, but maybe now you’re just sitting on them and you haven’t done anything to reach them. You’re waiting for a sign or a guarantee that it’s all going to work out. You’re afraid to take that leap of faith because what if you fail?

Guess what? There will never be a guarantee of success!!! You have to be willing to give your own word that you are going to try until you figure it out. That is when you’ll be blessed with an opportunity to succeed.

Fail forward! Really put yourself in the position where you can fail. Failure is not a bad thing – you can teach yourself to handle it and make the most of it. If you fail, say to yourself “What did I learn from tis situation?” Take that failure, turn it into a learning experience, and use it to grow. All it takes it reframing the way failure feels and taking it as a win and an opportunity to grow and change.

You have the power – it’s all up to you to make that happen. There’s no end date. If you stick it out and lean into the opportunity, you will find success and it will feel right. You will know that is where you’re supposed to be!

When it comes to living a life without regret, you need to do what’s right when no one is watching or when it’s not necessarily convenient for you. At some point in life you’ll get to a position where you might not feel like you need to do those “things” anymore. But you need to humble yourself. Volunteer to do the things that other people are not willing to do. It’s in those actions that you are brought back to your foundation and you can remind yourself that you are not above anyone else. Remind yourself that what you do in private will always be revealed in public.

Do the impossible so your followers realize it’s not impossible, but possible. If you pave the way and tell people the despite the odds, you can build your business online through social media, you will give others hope. Against Facebook algorithms and the way Instagram is run and whatever else – if you can achieve it, you will inspire others they can achieve it too.

When the day comes and your time is over, are you going to heaven with more regrets or more memories?  Will you have hopes and dreams or a long list of accomplishments that you were able to achieve? What are people going to look back and say about you when you’re no longer here?

Nobody cares what rank you are, how much income you make each week, or how good you were at taking a selfie. What people will remember is the way you made them feel. Did you lift people up or did you tear them down?

You are capable of extraordinary things and you are going to make a difference!!
