Peppermint Bark Martini Recipe

A few years ago Matt and I saw this recipe pop up as a sponsored ad on Facebook for a Peppermint Bark Martini.  Of course I didn’t stop and save the recipe and I’m pretty sure it was not very healthy either.  The recipe was full of heavy cream and lots of added sugars.  So Matt and I took it among ourselves to come up with our own healthier alternative minus the heavy cream.  So here is what we made and it has been a favorite in our  house during the holidays for years now!

Breakfast Smoothie

Want a quick breakfast that provides tons of nutrients, energy, protein and actually tastes good?  This smoothie is for you!  I have really taken smoothies under my wing in a pinch. When I need something that is chocked full of nutrients but doesn’t require me to cook a full meal then this is my go to!  Smoothies are filling and really tasty!  You would be surprised that this combination is very sweet!!!

Clean Mojito

Clean Mojito Recipe, Melanie Mitro

I told my husband that I am naming today “Mitro Mojito” night!  I wanted a clean mojito recipe that is  at least a little cleaner than what you would get when you go out!  So since Matt is the master drink maker he definitely was up for the challenge.  If you remember back to Christmas time he came up with that killer peppermint bark martini recipe!!

So here is what we made, and I am sipping it right now and it’s quite tasty! The coconut milk was inspired by a restaurant we went to in West Palm Florida.

Skinny Margarita

I like to call Matt my master drink maker.  He would make an awesome bartender and loves to come up with new recipes.  He is great at taking our favorite drinks and decreasing the calories and coming up with a skinnier alternative.

We have done the Peppermint Bark Martini, the Skinny Coconut Mojito, vodka soda water and now the Skinny Margarita. The secret to our skinny margarita is actually the orange juice.  I watched Matt squeeze an entire bag of oranges and he did say his hand was going to fall off. We also had orange juice that was just natural oranges and no added sugar.  So you can use that instead of fresh squeezed oranges.

So to make your drink more tart add more lime juice.  If you want it sweeter add more orange juice and simple syrup.  You can play with the recipe to get it to your liking.  The tip to keeping your calories in check is to drink 1 full glass of water in between your drinks and limit yourself to 2.  Even though it’s LOWER calorie its still high in sugar and if you are really focusing on results then you are going to have to be very careful.

Body Flush & Detox Water

One of my challengers shared this recipe with me and I cannot wait to make it.  I have been drinking warm lemon water every morning for at least a year.  It has so many great benefits for your body and I have really noticed a difference in the way I feel, my skin and just flushing out any extras!  So not only does this look refreshing but it seriously is something I could see drinking every day!  So off to the grocery store to make my own mason jars!!!

Lemons: Help aid in absorption of sugars and calcium and cuts down cravings for sweets.
Cucumbers: act as a diuretic and flush fat cells. It is like alkalizing your body (if you have an alkaline body no diseases can live there) & increase your energy levels.
Limes: Promote a healthy digestive track.
Mint: is a natural appetite suppressant that also aids in digestion.
