Most of you saw by way of social media that I was a speaker at the New Leader Conference this past weekend. One of the presentations I got to sit in on was by Darin Olien, co-creator of Shakeology. His educational session really got me thinking about how Shakeology has made an impact on my life, and I thought I’d share some of my thoughts with you!!


Many of you have been following my fitness journey over the past five years. When I started as a Beachbody customer, I went through the Insanity program without Shakeology. I thought it was too expensive and figured I didn’t need it. Guess what?? I only lost 2 pounds by the end of the first month!!

I quickly learned that nutrition makes up 80% of your results. I was eating low fat and fat free foods but not really focusing on what I was putting into my body. I thought if I had a Diet Pepsi instead of regular Pepsi or sugar free creamer instead of regular creamer that I was doing the right thing. I was wrong!!


What I learned is that the quality of the food you eat is far more important than the calories. I was never a shake drinker, but when I committed to trying 30 days of Shakeology, I got better results. I lost 9 pounds on my second month of Insanity after I started drinking Shakeology and paying attention to the food I was putting in my body.

I started drinking my shake for lunch because it was easy to throw together as I was making food for the boys. I noticed after starting Shakeology was that I was no longer getting that afternoon crash. Shakeology saved my butt!! My hair started looking healthier, my skin cleared up, and my digestion became regular.

I have IBS and I’ve had it my whole life. I haven’t had problems with it since starting Shakeology unless I eat something that I shouldn’t be eating. In the beginning I was gassy and bloated, so I cut my full scoop in half for two weeks. After that I tried two weeks of ¾ scoop and after a month I was able to use a full scoop for each shake. I noticed I had a sensitivity to peanut butter, so I started adding almond butter instead. Milk affected my digestion so I tried it with water and almond milk. If regular Shakeology stills bothers you after taking these steps, try switching to vegan Shakeology. It’s all about finding the right combination for your body!!


I gave it 30 days to see how I felt about Shakeology. Now I drink it every day, not just when it’s convenient! Shakeology is a Monday thru Sunday thing for me. It’s my multivitamin! Shakeology has the right carb to protein ratio to make up a complete meal and it’s convenient to make and take on the go.

Shakeology isn’t a protein shake and it’s not a weight loss shake. There’s nothing comparable!! I drink it because it makes me feel good and I care about good, quality nutrition. When I drink Shakeology, I’m not tired. I noticed that I had too many carbs on my trip, and I had brain fog. I wasn’t as focused. When I drink Shakeology, I’m regular and my cravings decrease.

It’s one meal a day that I don’t have to think about and it’s super easy to take on vacation. I brought my shaker and some packets and made my shake in my hotel room for breakfast, lunch or snack every day while I was gone. I feel off when I don’t drink it now!!


Shakeology serves a different purpose for people of different ages. My dad has high cholesterol, and he was able to go off his meds by simply making the choice to drink Shakeology every day. A lot of you might be pregnant, and in that case I would consult your doctor. Every physician has a different approach but I have several coaches and customers who were able to drink Shakeology while pregnant and nursing.

When you break down the cost, Shakeology is about $4 a day. If you combine all the drive thrus, coffee shop runs and extra snacks I was eating before, Shakeology actually is actually the cheaper option!! It’s not an addition to my grocery budget, it’s replacing the crap I was buying and eating before.

I hope this has helped give you some perspective on Shakeology! Look at your individual situation. It might start as a weight loss option or a portion control helper, but it can transform into a healthy new lifestyle. You have nothing to lose!!

6-7 oz. unsweetened coconut milk

1 spoon almond butter

Handful spinach


1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology

And I add unsweetened coconut on top!
