If you’ve been showing up social media, posting consistently, doing all the things, but you are not seeing it turn into sales or sign-ups?
You are probably not doing anything wrong. 🤔🤔
You might just be using strategies that don’t work the way they used to anymore.
Because social media has shifted. A lot. 👏
And if you haven’t shifted with it, that might be why your content isn’t converting.
So let’s talk about what is working right now on social media in 2026.
These are the 7 shifts I am seeing across the board, espeically for those building real businesses (not just chasing followers or likes).
1. Stop Broadcasting, Start Social Selling
One of the biggest mistakes I see right now? Treating social media like a megaphone. 📣📣📣
Are you posting:
- product after product
- deal after deal
- “join my team” over and over
…. and then wondering why nobody is buying.
Here is the hard truth in this situation:
- People don’t want to be sold to anymore.
- They want to feel connected.
- They want to trust you.
Social selling is about building authentic relationships, and you can’t do that without authentic connection and communcation. 💚
Because when peopel trust you, that is when they start to buy.
Instead of pitching, start real conversations. Reply to comments. Check in with the people you are already connecting wtih.
Be a HUMAN – not a script.
2. Use Short Form Video (But Make it Searchable)
Short form content isn’t new, but how people are using it has changed.
People are now going to Instagram and TikTok and searching just like they would on Google.
So if your content isn’t answering something… it is most likely not going to be found.
Instead of posting “My Morning Routine”, try “How I Build My Business Around My Family Schedule”.
One is just content, one is searchable. 📈
➡️ That is the goal.
3. Consistenty Beats Virality
I know it is much easier to think: “If I cold just go viral, everything would change”.
But, I want to be the first person to tell you that is not what is going to build your authentic business.
Consistencty and Connnection are what build your business.
Choosing to show up even when it feels like groundhog day. Day after day. Week after week.
You choose to show up.
That is what builds trust.
That is what builds momentum.
That is what leads to income.
The goal shouldn’t be one viral post. The goal should be consistency that compounds.
4. Your Story Is Your Best Content
As I mentioned before, we are in a era where people do not want to be sold to. People are not as trusting as they once were. They are not connecting with overly polished content because they know it real life isn’t like that.
But, you know what people do connect with?
Stories. Struggles. Experiences.
Your storires, struggles, and experiences. Your story is your best marketing tool. 💯💯
Your story isn’t perfect, but it is relatable.
Share the problem, how it felt, and then what changed. That is building authenticity and connection at the same time.
And connection is what leads to conversion.
5. Build a Community, Not Just a Following
There is a big difference here.
To build your business, you need a community that engages, not an audiance who watches.
Why? Because engagement leads to communication which leads to conversion!
More conversations, more interactions, more connections… more sales.
People buy when they feel like they belong, not when they are sold to.
6. Use AI to Work Smarter (Not Replace You)
AI is an incredible tool, but it is never meant to replace you or your story.
And to be honest, people can tell when you just copy and paste from ChatGPT.
It sounds really generic, flat, and not personal.
And in direct sales, YOU are the reason people buy!
So of course, use AI to help you brainstorm, organize, structure content, but always bring your voice into the actual words and flow.
7. Stop Measuring Likes, Start Measuring Dollars
This is the one I really need you to take in.
Likes do not pay your bills. Followers do not pay your bills.
Conversions do. 🔁🔁
If your content isn’t leading to conversations, customers, or team members, it is not doing its job.
So instead of tracking the likes and followers, I would start tracking
- how many conversations you start
- how many turn into sales
- how many people you reach out to and connect with
Those are the numbers that truly help your business grow.
You do not need to implement all 7 at one time. In fact, I wouldn’t!
Pick one that feels doable right now. Focus on that for the next 30 days. See where you are at and go from there.
The small, intentional shifts are what are going to create real results.
