It’s officially the 3rd and final week of the Reset! This week is called Restore.
This week we are eliminating grains and legumes to focus on a simple, cleansing fruit and vegetable based diet. There’s an optional grain included with each dinner for those who wish to continue grains throughout phase 3. When meals contain only vegetables, the portions can be larger. Every breakfast consists of fresh fruit! You are encouraged to choose fruit with a lower glycemic level like berries, melons, papayas, peaches, nectarines or green apples.
This week we add in the Revitalize Supplement. You can listen to more about it by clicking the video below. But the Revitalize is meant to restore good bacteria back into your gut and help your metabolism fire up! Overall intestinal health.
Revitalize Supplement
Day 1 week 3 started out with my fresh fruit plate! Yummy as always. I am really loving the mango this time of year.
Next it’s off to teach Total Body Core Class and of course keep it to the modifications. I feel great today! But I must say that I am freezing all the time! Especially in the morning when I wake up and right after I take my supplements. It’s like I need 3 blankets to warm up! Very strange!
Today we had friends over for lunch. So I grilled chicken for our company along with a large salad for each guest. Then, my salad was just without the chicken. I added in the nuts and seeds and enjoyed the visit with friends.
My afternoon snack was my vegan Shakeology. Which I am now just mixing with water. I am forgoing the almond milk this week because I want to try and follow the meal plan as best as possible. Honestly I don’t mind just mixing it with water. The almond milk does give it a creamier texture but the water still gives me the vitamins and minerals I need. The one thing I do notice is that my Shakeology is giving me a boost in the afternoon. If I do feel at all tired I am not after drinking the shake. BONUS!
By dinner time I was ready to eat!!! Tonight is Baked Sweet potato, garlic veggies and a serving of quinoa. I must say that this dinner is fantastic!!! So much flavor and totally filling!
I must say that for some reason that the cravings for something totally off the wall unhealthy are hitting me like a ton of bricks!!!! I seriously can hardly stand it! Tonight was sugar cookies and the smell of pizza was hypnotizing! I refuse to give in, but the extra veggies I ate probably don’t help the situation. But it was better than caving and eating something bad. Off to bed and hopefully tomorrow the cravings will be better! It’s weird because I really haven’t had the urge to cheat much until now.
What gives?!?!
Day 16
Woke up at 6 am this morning and spent some time checking in with my challengers and working on a customized meal plan for them. By the time the kids got up it was time to make my fresh fruit plate!
This morning it was mango, kiwi, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe and watermelon. Totally 2 1/2 cups of fruit. Lots of water and my herbal decaf tea with it to warm me up! Man it’s cold in Western PA today! I said yesterday that I couldn’t seem to get warm. Today is even worse! I do contribute that to the weather but also to the fact that my body is changing again.
Today I have another challenge! I am heading to my future sister in laws families house to plan her bridal shower. We are having lunch there! Luckily we all were bringing something. So I offered to bring a salad. I also brought the creamy garlic dressing for everyone to try. It worked perfect and I was able to stick to the plan. But let me tell you the cream puff cake was totally calling my name! But water for me and I was focused on the planning!
On the way back home I drank my Alkalinize supplement and hung with the boys for a little while. Then it’s back to the kitchen to cook up some dinner!
The menu tonight was rather scarey to me. Curry Cauliflower, lemon pepper kale and 1/2 cup cooked brown rice!
Didn’t sound appetizing in the least. But again I was surprised at how much I liked it. Although I was still hungry afterwards so I had a bowl of fruit. I know it wasn’t on the plan but it was better than the ice cream in the freezer!!!
So here we are at the end of Day 16! Eating lots of fruit and veggies and very little grains. This is where the magic happens, I’m convinced that this week will change me!!!
I was talking with my mom today who is also doing the reset with me! She said that she feels the best she has ever felt, no aches and pains, no cravings for sweets, and a renewed sense for healthy living! I love to hear that I have made an impact on her and am able to set up a healthy lifestyle for my parents as well. Her main reason isn’t just weight loss but it’s so that she can get on the floor and play with her grandchildren for many years to come! Totally brought tears to my eyes. This is what makes it all worth it. Not the number on the scale, but the number of lives you can impact!
Until tomorrow, be well, live life to the fullest and bless those around you!
