Clean eating is one of those things that I find that people are deathly afraid of. They think it’s some kind of slow torture to eat healthy food. I also find that a lot of people are really mis informed as to what clean eating is! Also the fact that your entire family can eat this way as well just is unheard of!
As a mom, Beachbody Coach and Clean Eating lady I have made it my mission to help you get health and fit and know that this can be your lifestyle and not a crash diet! So as I ventured off to the grocery store today I had my kids in mind. I was definitely allowing to many unhealthy treats make their way into our house. I was completely guilty of buying them toaster strudels, chips and cookies. I thought to myself, if I won’t feed that food to myself then why in the heck am I feeding it to my kids! I decided that it was time to really get back to my whole clean eating approach with my mini me’s!!! I always provide them with healthy options but now I’m taking it one step further.
So when we went to the grocery store yesterday I spoke with Landon about making healthier choices. We steered clear of the frozen food isle with the toaster strudels and french toast sticks. We decided to choose cereal. He wanted fruity pebbles and captain crunch but I explained that it wasn’t healthy food and that we needed to pick something that was a little healthier. While I am completely aware that the choice we did make wasn’t 100% clean it was still my best option because I wanted to slowly ease them into it. The Leapin Lemurs peanut butter and chocolate cereal wasn’t a bad option at all.
Ingredients:
For juice this is one thing that our family struggles with. Just about every juice on the market is filled with high fructose corn syrup and has more sugar than I myself would eat in 2 days. So I was in search of a better option and came across, Northland Juice.
Snack time in our house is always a treat! The typical snacks are gold fish, apples, strawberries, chips and most recently greek yogurt, honey and berries. I am trying to give the kids something with crunch without sacrificing quality of nutrition. So I picked up some organic banana chips to snack on! My kids loved dried fruit and they love sweets so this will be a good fit!
There are a lot of times that we are on the go with Preschool drop off, errands, visiting family and just being out and about! The zone perfect kids bars are not clean but they are protein which is going to keep them full and it’s going to simulate a chocolate bar but give them nutrition!
For a little snack at home sugar snap peas and carrots are always great! But what kid doesn’t want Ranch to dip their veggies in! I decided to pick up a ranch packet and mix it with greek yogurt and that can be their dip for the week!

Waffles are a staple in our house so Earth’s Best Organic mini waffles were a good choice. They are about to be eaten just as we speak!!! My little Bryce man is the carb KING!!!
Lastly but not least is the sweet treat of the day! My kids love raisins and nothing better than yogurt covered raisins as a snack! These do not pass the clean eating test but wouldn’t you rather have them eating this vs chocolate??

I have noticed that my kids really can’t handle sugar. Their behavior is ridiculous and they are completely wound up and hyper. I know that personally when I eat junk food that I feel bloated, foggy, and sick to my stomach plus lethargic. Can you imagine what those foods are doing to our kids? If we want them to be able to sit in class and learn plus have optimal performance then we definitely should give them brain power to do so!
It’s just the small simple changes that make the world of difference. It’s never to late to start!!!
These 2 are worth the best! |
Can you post more kid friendly clean eating options? I am new to this. I have unfortunately gained 80 (now at 220) 🙁 After having two pregnancies back to back, losing my mother to a brain tumor, I am a self-diagnosed emotional eater. I am trying my hardest to buy more fruit & veg, and less cookies, crackers, and chips. My kids do enjoy raisins and yogurt, many fruits, but I have trouble with lunch ideas, and dinner I ususally do whole wheat spaghetti with turkey & just this week made my mariana based sauce from scratch just by boiling tomatoes and adding spices! I was so proud of myself (a teeny accomplishment, I know, but a long way from where I started). Dinner is easiest for me to create clean meals. So, if you have any kid friendly cookies, snack and lunch ideas that would help me out tremendously! I am so sick of feeling like crap, being in pain daily, sick of weighing in at 220 no matter how hard I work out, I have lower painful lower back and heel pain and I'm ONLY 30!! :'( I want to feel better, but I KNOW if I don't have cookie and inexpensive quick lunch recipes that we will not succeed in living a healthy lifestyle. I am unfortunately the type of mother who if there is junk food in the house then I will sneak it. Can you have chocolate or fruit covered with chocolate as part of a clean eating diet? Chocolate is my weakness and cookies are my son's addiction. Would love you input for quick healthier alternatives.
Absolutely I will post more recipes for you and tips!!!
So Annie's mac and cheese is organic and I do buy that for my kids. It's much better than the processed Kraft Mac and cheese.
Also, for lunch I do peanut butter and jelly for them alot but I read the ingredients on my bread and do only whole grain and no high fructose corn syrup in the bread. Peanut butter is only peanuts no added sugar or ingredients, and I go with jelly that has no extra high fructose corn syrup.
For snacks we love dried fruit, greek yogurt with honey drizzled in it with some fresh strawberries sliced up!
It just takes a little thought but the kids love it!!
Have you considered being in one of my challenge groups so I can help you with clean eating and meal planning and prep? If you want to give me your email I would be more than happy to give you some details.
I love this post. I am needing to lose weight, I too have gained a lot after having my baby nearly a year ago. I want to make better choices for her now that she is eating food and don't want to just feed her tons of processed foods.
Thank You, these are great ideas for my little one. He eats everything (good the bad and the ugly) so i know he will love all of these options. Great thing about him, he prefers veggies (carrots and peas) over fruit (lots of sugar). He is a great eater and I intend to encourage it since I myself would like to start eating better. I have this moto…"If I wouldn't give it to my son, I wont eat it myself, EXCEPT wine" lol Thanks for this post
