So I started the 21 Day Fix Extreme with Matt 2 weeks ago and lets just say that I wasn’t 100% in it! Mentally and physically I wasn’t there. I was totally just going through the motions and doing the workouts but I wasn’t following the nutrition plan to the T. I wasn’t pushing myself hard in the workouts and my energy level and my lack of results were proof that I was just sorta lolly gagging thru it! I felt awful, I didn’t feel confident about my progress and I really wasn’t enjoying myself. I needed a fresh start! I kept saying, “Tomorrow is my fresh start” I would make it all the way until dinner and then I would fall apart! Raiding the pantry, eating cheese its and sugar cookies that we baked together! I was literally sabotaging myself and then feeling guilty for it! We have a trip coming up in 8 weeks, an all expenses paid trip to Cancun Mexico for the Success Club Trip with Team Beachbody.
Motivation is Cancun with my Beachbody Family |
I of course want to look my best but why was I undoing all my hard work with these bad choices?? Seriously it is totally a vicious cycle! I mean I teach others about these choices every day and I’m doing it too. This goes to show that even a coach like me can still get off track at times.

So I dug down, found my motivation, starting browsing for bathing suits for our trip, got plugged into a challenge group for me personally and I’m back! The motivation is there, the bathing suit is ordered and will hang in my closet as the reminder to step away from the pantry late at night! I basically wiped the slate clean on Monday and started with a fresh meal plan, I restarted at day 1 and I am committed for the next 2 months to 2 rounds of the 21 Day Fix Extreme alternating between the competition plan and the regular 21 Day Fix Extreme meal plan for maximum results.
PS notice I totally wrote Fab to Flab— it was 5 am!!!! |
I find that the 21 Day Fix Extreme Count Down To competition is very much like the Eat Clean Stripped Diet I did a few years ago to lose the last 10 pounds. This meal plan is basic; it limits fruits, fats, carbs and really loads up on veggies and protein and good fats! I can do this! I’ve done it before, I felt great and the results were easily maintained once I learned which foods affected my progress the most! When I did the Eat clean Stripped plan that is when I realized that dairy really caused me to feel bloated. If I wanted to feel my best I had to cut out the dairy and that included my all time favorite GREEK YOGURT! It was a hard pill to swallow but I really felt so much better when I didn’t eat it.
I also found that I did have to cut back on carbs. Oatmeal was another food that caused me to be seriously bloated! Through trial and error I found that sweet potatoes and brown rice with some quinoa were my go to carbs! Plus eating the carbs before 7 pm were also key!
So I know how my body works and responds and now its go time!
What is my own personal goal? Well, I don’t have a weight loss goal. I really more importantly want to make sure I’m eating the cleanest foods, I’m staying away from sodium, high sugar foods, and I’m toning up and tightening for our trip. For me it is not so much about a drastic physical transformation. Its more about looking and feeling my personal best! It’s my own body confidence in a very healthy way!
So what will my workouts look like this week?
I will be following the 21 Day Fix Extreme Schedule.
Monday: Plyo Fix Extreme
Tuesday: Upper Fix Extreme
Wednesday: Pilates Extreme
Thursday: Lower Fix Extreme
Friday: Cardio Fix Extreme
Saturday: Dirty 30 Extreme
Sunday: Yoga Extreme
My meal plan is as follows:
2 days of the countdown to competition plan which cuts your carbs back to 1 per day, no fruits, increases protein, good fats and veggies with lots of water!
1 day of fix extreme eating which allows me 2 carbs, 2 fruits, 4 proteins, 3 veggies, good fats and seeds! This will allow my body to always be in fat burning mode!
My meal plan is easy to follow and I often repeat the same things over and over. I don’t mind doing the same foods through the week. It actually doesn’t bother me at all! I’m a creature of habit!
For dinners I am not cooking different meals for my family and myself. We all eat the same thing, sometimes I just cook an extra carb for the kids!
