5 years ago when I was looking for a solution to my post baby belly BLAHH-NESS I made a random post on Facebook about eating celery and trying to lose weight. My husbands friend from high school’s wife reached out to me and invited me to join her challenge group called the Summer Slim Down Challenge. I had no idea what Beachbody or Challenge Groups were but I gave it a chance. I actually borrowed Insanity from my neighbor and joined her group. I didn’t purchase anything at the time that I joined her group. She wasn’t making a dime from me, but what she did do was HELP me. She focused on helping me to get the very best results, transforming my life from the inside out and inevitably introducing me to the opportunity that I had no idea would change my life the way that it did. I know that everything happens for a reason and I’m thankful that I am the type of person that is open and willing to try something new. I could of ignored her invite, I could of quit after 2 weeks of Insanity and not seeing any results. I could of doubted that I would actually change the look of my body but something inside of me kept me going. It was that HOPE that I held onto that I was going to be different and this was going to work for ME! So every day I showed up with my laptop, my borrowed DVDs, my baby monitor and hit up the storage room of our townhouse to do my workout between the boxes and shelves. I cried, I was frustrated, but in the end I BELIEVED that this was going to work. I checked every single box off the workout calendar and I was so PROUD that I started and finished the program. I was DETERMINED to make myself a success story! I was willing to put in the HARD WORK when most people would give up because they didn’t quite see the light at the end of the tunnel right away.

My Journey As A Mom Of 2 Boys
After doing Insanity my coach invited me to become a coach myself. I was curious, I wanted to do it, but my husband was not in favor of it! He thought Beachbody was a scam, a pyramid scheme and he didn’t want me wasting my money on something that wasn’t going to work! He even told me that if I wanted a job we would put the kids in daycare and I could go get a REAL job! Needless to say, I didn’t listen to him & I signed up to be a Team Beachbody Coach behind his back with the money that my parents had given me for my birthday that year. I was determined to help just 1 PERSON transform their lives the way that I was! I set out to start my first support and accountability group. I started a Clean Eating Book Club and taught other moms how to start transforming their kitchens and their families. I had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING but I just wanted to HELP people. I started by just helping others on social media or in person when the kids napped or before or after Matt got home from work. I did not have any social media experience, I knew nothing about Network Marketing but all I wanted to do was help!
What were some of the key disciplines that I did as a new coach:
1. I immediately launched my business on Facebook. Which you don’t have to use facebook, you can use Instagram, Snapchat, a blog, a website, a business page….. But that is what worked for me. I started by showing up 3-5 times a day with the mindset that I was going to give people value and inspire them to make positive changes in their lives. 2. I started writing this blog and sharing recipes, tips, my own transformation journey so that I could share my knowledge of how clean eating was working in our family. 3. I started a challenge group with my coach. I chose a start date, I invited people to join me, I made a commitment to creating the very best experience possible for my customers. Did I know what I was doing?? HECK NO, but I figured it out along the way! I wasn’t scared, I just did it! It was fun and the coolest part was seeing my customers get results and knowing that I had a hand in that! 4. I started expanding my reach. I didn’t have very many friends on Facebook so I had to start growing that. I was a private person, I didn’t post much and I am very very shy! So I started connecting with people that I knew from my sorority in college, my high school, my neighbors and people at church. I forced myself out of my own comfort zone and started being more social. Inevitably it helped me to grow my base of new customers and coaches. 5. I invested in personal development. I didn’t know what coaching was all about. I had never built my own business. So the first book I read which was the Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen was a game changer. It gave me the mindset of focusing on the small successes because those things compound and add up over time to bring me big time success. 6. Lastly, I set goals and I created my own sense of urgency. I wasn’t sure what I was doing but I just wanted to be the very best at providing support to others. Which helped me to naturally build an incredibly rewarding business.
So let’s fast forward over the past 5 years, what did that 1 single decision do for our lives?
When I started coaching, we were living very frugally. We didn’t have any fluff at all in our lives. We lived on a strict budget, no eating out, no vacations, no weekend trips just the basics. We were fine with that but it wasn’t always easy. It was a strain on our marriage because we fought a lot about money!!!
So when coaching came along I saw it as a way to get in shape first but when I began to understand the opportunity my wheels got turning!!!
Over the past few years we have gone from discomfort in our budget to being able to breathe and enjoy a dinner out here and there and a splurge on a few gifts for the kids to being able to be financially free.
Paying Off All my student loans
In the past 4 1/2 years we have:
-Paid off my student loans which we were going to originally pay off until Landon went to high school.
-We have paid off our mortgage.
-We have no credit card debt.
-We have been able to take our family on a vacation every year and not have to worry about money.
-We have bought our dream home.
-We have been able to donate to charity and help others in need.
-We have blessed our team with leadership retreats and masterminds to help them grow in leadership.
-We are a team that is developing leaders, confident moms, women who are crushing goals and are truly living life by design.
I am so blessed to have such wonderful caring coaches in my life!
