Tons of people have been asking me recently what I do to get ready for a vacation. I’m going to walk you through what I do to plan and prep before I go on a trip! Now you don’t have to be going on vacation – maybe you’re in a wedding or you have an event coming up and you want to look and feel your best. It’s time to lose those last 10 pounds!
When I feel confident in the clothes that I’m wearing and the food that I’m eating, I have a much better time. A big part of me dialing in on my nutrition is that confidence factor and knowing that I can rock wearing anything that I want.
I will tell you that those last few pounds are hanging on for dear life! How do you get rid of them??
When I first started my journey five years ago, I relied on clean eating. The 21 Day Fix and 21DF Extreme didn’t exist yet, so clean eating was how I changed my habits. I read the book by Tosca Reno called “The Eat-Clean Diet, Stripped” and I took those principles and applied them to losing the last 10 pounds. Then, Beachbody magically came up with the 21 Day Fix Extreme! This parallels “The Eat-Clean Diet, Stripped” but gives you portion control containers and workouts and simplifies the entire process.
This is what I follow when I’m trying to get ready for an event. If you don’t have this program and you have Beachbody on Demand, you can access the program and meal plan with your BOD. I know exactly what calorie bracket I’m in and exactly how many containers I am allowed to eat every day.
When you’re down to the last 10 pounds, there are things you’ll want to cut out that your body doesn’t respond well to. For me, that’s dairy (any kind of cheese or milk). I knew I could have Greek yogurt because it was a red container on the list, but I knew I felt bloated afterwards so I started to cut it out of my diet. I noticed the same thing with breads, even though I was allowed to have whole wheat. When I began cutting out the foods that didn’t agree with me, it became easier to lose those last few pounds. I found out through trial and error that these foods didn’t work with my body, so you’ll have to figure out what makes you feel best and worst when you’re eating.
You need to eat fruit for its natural sugars and nutrients, but I cut out bananas and grapes because not all fruits are created equal. I tend to stick to the fruits that are at the top of the list for the purple container, which is blueberries and raspberries and strawberries. Those have a lower glycemic index so I allow myself to eat them when cutting out other fruits. I try to cut out alcohol completely. I stick to just water (I love my coconut LaCroix!!). I don’t add sugars or creamers or anything to my coffee and just drink it black.
To me, losing the last 10 pounds, feeling confident in a bathing suit, and rocking any outfit was worth it.
Once you figure out how many calories you can have and what bracket you’re in, making a weekly meal plan is a lifesaver. I created my template on Google Spreadsheet – you can even go old school and use a pen and paper!
I write out my workout so I know what I’m doing every day for the week. I have my breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner listed and planned out. Below you’ll find my meal plan perfect for losing the last few pounds!!
For me, Shakeology for breakfast is quick and easy and one less thing I need to think about in the morning. I add a handful of spinach, a spoonful of almond butter, and water (no almond or coconut milk when I’m trying to drop those last few pounds).
When I’m filling out the meals for the week, I usually pull off my blog because I’ve blogged all my favorite recipes – it’s basically my personal recipe book! I’ll also have a sheet of paper beside me so I can start keeping track of what groceries I need to buy for the week. I’ll print off my meal plan and hang it up on the fridge. Every day we look at this and this is what we live by!!
Since I’m going on a trip, I’m not going to have a cheat meal. I know this weekend is Easter, but I don’t really care about eating candy so it’s not an issue for me. I can whip up a batch of Shakeology chocolate and that will satisfy my sweet tooth!
Some people aren’t as strict as I am and that’s totally okay!! You just need to conceptualize how you want to feel and what you want to look like on your trip or at your event. I’m good with doing ten days of being strict right before a trip because it gives me that added boost of confidence.
The other thing is that I’m going to do the 3 Day Refresh. I ordered this a couple weeks ago, knowing that I was going to do the Refresh a few days before my Punta Cana trip. If you’re getting ready to join (or thinking about joining) my next challenge group, try the 3 Day Refresh with me next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!
The 3 Day Refresh is a HEALTHY cleanse – I promise you won’t be in the bathroom 24/7!! It’s super easy and basic and tells you what to eat or drink when. And it doesn’t taste that bad – just chug it down and then drink a full bottle of water afterwards! If your body isn’t super used to fiber, you might feel a bit full or gassy but you won’t be on the toilet.
There’s also a Vanilla Refresh shake that is full of protein to help keep you full throughout the day. You can mix this with your fruits or eat your fruits separately. There are also some recipes included in the 3 Day Refresh booklet for your dinners, which will be plant-based and basic.
In 3 days, you’ll get rid of any bloating, cut the cravings, break the plateau and get a fresh start on your diet. I highly suggest the 3 Day Refresh – if you’re interested, send me a message and I’ll hook you up with the best option and show you how to get it. You can also add the 3 Day Refresh to the current Beachbody All-Access Challenge Pack sale and you’ll save some extra money!
Here’s the Beachbody video describing the 3 Day Refresh:
So when it comes down to getting ready for a trip:
- Keep it basic.
- Track your containers and measure out your serving sizes.
- Stick to the top of the list in each category of food.
- Cut out breads and dairy even though it’s allowed
