Do you know that Instagram Reels are a huge part of my social media marketing strategy for 2022? As a business owner who utilizes social media to generate new business and create long-lasting raving fans, I can’t ignore the Instagram Reels trend.

When Instagram Reels was announced a few years ago I definitely dug in my heels a little and gave some push back on using the new feature. WHY? Because I just didn’t want to take the time to learn something new! I liked my social media routine and at the time it was really working for me. But, the one thing I have learned over the years of business is this… If you are not willing to change with the times, evolve and try new things then you are going to get left in the dust. I have watched far too many Entrepreneurs in my space go from top ranks in the company to the struggle bus because they wouldn’t evolve and change.

A sure-fire way to get me to  🙄 roll my eyes is to resist change.

I decided to do what I do best and jump on the trend when it’s new so that I can learn it, master it and then teach it to my team members and clients that I work with.

Here is what I’ve learned:

  • You don’t have to dance in your Reels.
  • You don’t have to have change your outfit 10 times.
  • You don’t have to lip sync.

But here is what you do have to do:

  • You have to be willing to get uncomfortable.
  • You have to be willing to embrace the learning curve of mastering a new skill.
  • You have to be willing to take what you know works for your brand and put that into the Reels format.
  • You have to have a purpose to the Reel you are making.
  • You have to have a strong call to action.
  • You have to write a great caption.
  • You have to engage with your followers before and after you post the Reel.
  • You have to use relevant hashtags.

Basically, I take what I typically do with my social media content strategy and I now incorporate that with Reels. Instead of a static post about the results that my products have for my customers, I showcase that in a Reel with a trending song 📈 , add a catchy tagline, tell a story about the clients’ results and how I can serve them through my services and give a call to action at the end to either visit the link in my bio or send me a message.

I use my Make Chic Happen Planner to plan out my content one week in advance. I make sure that my social media content supports my business goals and I make sure that I am well rounded in the content that I share by using the Thumbprint Marketing Method.

I aim to create a minimum of 3 Instagram Reels per week. I notice that my analytics are always higher in engagement when I post Reels. I notice that people do interact most with Reels content and that when I do consistently 3+ Reels my following grows more than the weeks I do not do Reels.

The reason I say that 3 Reels a week is because I want you to have an achievable goal. You can totally create space to make 3 pieces of content each week. If you want to do more then aim to do a Reel a day or at least 5 Reels a week.

You can still create other posts that are static and video content, but Reels still do the best!

  2. You can begin to save Reels to your Instagram collections by category. Business reels, personal brand message, product/service reels, ect… Then, as you have mark off time in your calendar to create content you can pull from the saved abulm so that you aren’t wasting time looking for ideas.
  3. You can get started!!! The worst thing as a business owner you can do is over think it! Here is the very very first Reel I ever made and it was originally done on TikTok and I pulled it over into my Instagram Reels. I think it took me hours to create because of all the outfit changes and I had no idea what I was doing!!! But I started!!!

Over the past few years, I’ve been able to see massive growth through Reels ⤵️
