Of course, you can continue to go through the year the same way you have been the last few months, or you can make sure you prevent burnout as a high achieving direct sales leader!
Are you trying to make sure your team hits their goals? Trying to be motivating and a leader, while trying to continue to build your own business at the same time!?
I’ve been there!!! As you are moving into the rest of the year, I want you to ask yourself, who are the team members that are matching your energy, effort, and intensity at this point in the year.
At this point, you should have enough base line data to see who you have to work with.
Regardless of the results you have, remember that is is data. Good or bad, it is data upon which you make smarter decisions moving forward.
When analyzing your data, be careful with your mindset. If you believe that you could not have given a finger nail more, then don’t let the data affect your efforts. Now, use the data to move forward with your goals!
Here is a very specific question I ask myself:
How do I maintain my positive energy flow that I have right now for 12 months out of the year?
That is truly what I believe is a big reason leaders start and stop their business journey. They run run run, until they burn out. I lived a life of having too many goals, which then lead to a burn out and having no goals, therefore I understand.
After learning about myself and all the data over the last few years, I’ve learned how to split my energy down the middle of too much and too little. Mastering preventing burnout as a high achieving direct sales leader was my goal.
I keep saying to myself “How do I maintain this pace throughout the year?”
I refuse to be a start and stop business owner.
Here are my top 5 ways on how I prevent burnout as a high achieving direct sales leader.
Decisions are made around a threshold: what allows you hit your goals while staying aligned in all areas?
Achieving goals while maintaining alignment across various aspects of life requires a harmonious balance of focus, adaptability, and intentionality.
Firstly, setting clear, measurable goals is essential, as it provides a roadmap for success.
Allowing yourself the time to sit down to prioritize the parts of the business that bring you the most joy, as well as, putting the most important tasks into your calendar. This helps in the long run for when you are going into a busier season, you already know how to prioritize what matters most.
However, flexibility is equally important, allowing for adjustments in response to changing circumstances or priorities because life is life and sometimes that happens.
Rest.
I use to run on 5 hours of sleep, when I function my best at 7-9 hours of sleep.
Not prioritizing sleep took a major toll on my body.
It started to affect the way I was showing up.
If I wanted to show up as a high achieving direct sales leader and CEO, I had to start listening to my body. I had to make sleep a priority because I would accomplish twice as much in a day when I get 7-9 hours of sleep, rather than 4-5.
This is a major part of your journey as a high achieving direct sales leader for preventing burnout!
Do Not Disturb.
Do you have a thousand notifications coming up your phone all throughout the day?
Every time you get a notification your brain shifts focus. When in reality, you need to be focusing on the needling moving activities!!!
Turning on the “Do Not Disturb” feature is a complete game changer for focus.
The book Present Over Perfect is an amazing resource. Shauna Niequist invites you to consider the landscape of your own life, and what it might look like to leave behind the pressure to be perfect and begin the life-changing practice of simply being present, in the middle of the mess and the ordinariness of life.
Trying to do something fun every week!
Whatever brings you joy… do it!!! Then, take time journal about why it is important to you to stop and take time to do the things that bring you joy.
Studying high performers made me realize that they ALL have hobby outside of work.
I took up golf, which is a way I can also connect with my husband and boys.
Golfing allows me to think about nothing else except what is directly in front of me. Thats the point.
I needed to connect with something else other than work.
If you are like me, you can schedule it into your calendar! There is nothing wrong with that.
Learned that I don’t have to do it all.
Running a direct sales team is not doing everything for them. It is not the job of one person to do everything all the time.
It could be easier to do everything yourself, but it is not going to help you grow. It can be make you resentful to your business, which is the last thing we want.
Take a moment to ask yourself, where are you saying yes right now that could then be a shared responsibility?
You can achieve massive success by making smarter and intentionally decisions.
Why do things alone when you can have a community to help you? You can prevent burnout.
An amazing resource is the book Boundary Boss.
